This cover is so iconic of the burgeoning "Space Age" although Captain Science is not on the cover. The cover is actually for Spawn of Saturn featuring Jrld Anders and Crystal Varn and the foes in the story are lizard men.
Crystal is there for the purposes of nerd porn and being the damsel in distress. Overall Spawn of Saturn is a good read for its time and the quality of the art is comparable to the cover. Back in the golden age and silver age a lot of time you would get a cover with some fantastic art work only to find the actual pages lacking.
